Position Summary

Southard Financial is seeking an experienced Senior Manager of Business Valuation to lead valuation engagements, strengthen client relationships, and actively contribute to the firm’s growth. This role combines technical excellence with relationship-building.

The ideal candidate brings deep valuation expertise and the motivation to expand a book of business, whether through existing relationships, new client development, or referral networks. This position is well-suited for someone who enjoys both delivering exceptional valuation work and contributing to the long-term success and visibility of the firm.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage valuation engagements for various purposes, including:
  • Estate and gift tax valuations
  • Financial institution valuations
  • ESOP valuations and fairness opinions
  • M&A, transaction advisory, and litigation support
  • Conduct management interviews.
  • Review valuation models and reports prepared by team members, maintaining consistency and technical excellence.
  • Stay current on valuation standards, market trends, and regulatory developments.
Client Relationships & Business Development
  • Develop and deepen relationships with current clients to increase engagement and expand service scope.
  • Actively identify and pursue new business opportunities through networking, professional associations, and referral channels.
  • Collaborate with firm leadership to create and execute business development strategies that increase workload and grow the client base.
  • Represent Southard Financial in the Mid-South market and beyond, enhancing the firm’s visibility and reputation.
  • Contribute to marketing initiatives, thought leadership, and industry events to attract new clients and partners.
  • Mentor, train, and coach junior valuation staff to build technical and professional capability.
  • Support firm initiatives to strengthen recurring valuation services and expand existing markets such as ESOPs and financial reporting.
  • Contribute to strategic discussions regarding practice growth, client management, and operational improvement.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or advanced degree (Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field preferred).
  • One or more of the following certifications/credentials: ASA, CFA, CPA/ABV, CPA or CVA.
  • 5+ years of experience in business valuation, with demonstrated success managing complex engagements.
  • Proven ability to develop new business and maintain strong professional relationships.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with comfort in client-facing roles.
  • Deep understanding of valuation methodologies including income, market, and asset approaches.
  • Familiarity with ESOPs, financial reporting valuations, or fairness opinions a plus.
  • High professional and ethical standards with strong judgment and accountability.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, deliverables, and deadlines.
  • Desire and ability to grow into a leadership or ownership role within the firm.
