Job SummaryThe University of Tennessee Health Science Center is seeking a Pediatric Dietitian with a special interest or experience in Cystic Fibrosis (CF) to join our multidisciplinary care team. This position provides both inpatient and outpatient nutritional management to pediatric patients with CF, working closely with pulmonologists, nurses, respiratory therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to support optimal growth, nutritional status, and quality of life.
Responsibilities- Conducts comprehensive nutrition assessments for pediatric CF patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Develops, implements, and monitors individualized nutrition care plans in accordance with CF Foundation guidelines.
- Provides nutrition education and counseling to patients and families, including enzyme use, vitamin supplementation, enteral nutrition, and managing comorbidities (e.g., CFRD, liver disease).
- Collaborates with the CF team to develop quality improvement initiatives and participates in CF registry data reporting as applicable.
- Documents all patient interactions and care plans accurately and timely in the electronic medical record.
- Supports the transition of adolescent patients to adult care with appropriate nutritional guidance.
- Provides telehealth dietitian consultation services to our Jackson, TN, and Tupelo, MS, locations (additional certifications in Mississippi may be needed).
- Participates in regular CF multidisciplinary team clinics and inpatient rounds.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
- Experience: One (1) year of experience in pediatric or clinical nutrition.
- License/Certification: Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) certification through the Commission on Dietetic Registration. Licensed Dietitian in Tennessee and Mississippi. (COPY OF REGISTRATION AND LICENSE ARE REQUIRED)
Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to use or easily learn Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, online nutrition analysis programs, electronic databases, and/or distance communication devices.
Work ScheduleThis position may occasionally be required to work weekends and evenings. May require occasional overnight travel.
