Patient Access Specialist | Ensemble Health Partners | Memphis, TN
This position pays between $16.50 - $17.65/hr based on experience. It is an onsite role at Methodist – South Hospital in Memphis, TN; candidates must be able to work on site.
Job OverviewThe Patient Access Specialist is responsible for performing admitting duties for all patients admitted for services at the hospital. The role involves meeting the mission and goals of the organization, ensuring regulatory compliance, and adhering to policies and processes across the entire organization.
Responsibilities- Assign accurate MRNs, complete medical necessity/compliance checks, provide patient instructions, collect insurance information, and process physician orders.
- Operate the telephone switchboard to relay incoming, outgoing, and inter‑office calls while maintaining excellent customer service and compassion.
- Utilize quality auditing and reporting systems to correct accounts, conduct audits, and provide statistical data to leadership.
- Pre‑register patient accounts before visits, including inbound and outbound calls to obtain demographic, insurance, and financial liability information, and collect point‑of‑service collections and past‑due balances.
- Explain consent for treatment forms, obtain signatures, and verify legal guardian requirements.
- Distribute patient education documents such as Medicare, Tricare, Observation Forms, MOON, consent forms, and other required paperwork.
- Review insurance verification responses, select applicable insurance codes, enter benefit data, and support clean claim rates.
- Screen for medical necessity using Advanced Beneficiary Notice (ABN) software and distribute required forms and pamphlets.
- 1+ years of customer service experience
- High School Diploma or GED required
- CRCR certification required within 6 months of hire (company paid)
