The School of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Memphis (

) is one of the leading academic and clinical programs in the country. This graduate-only audiology program resides in a beautiful, state-of-the-art facility on the University’s Park Avenue Campus. This 12-month non-tenure track position is ideal for a strong, innovative clinician whose focus area is in vestibular assessment and management and who will provide clinical education in an academic setting. The clinical program offers the full scope of audiology services to our patients including diagnostic assessments across the lifespan, hearing aid services, cochlear implant services, bone conduction device services, electrophysiology assessments, vestibular assessments, auditory rehabilitation, and auditory processing disorder testing and treatment.
Applicants are expected to collaborate on research and service with clinical and academic faculty. This candidate is expected to be involved in the maintenance and growth of vestibular clinic
. The clinic currently employs assessment methods such as oculomotor examination, caloric testing, rotary chair examination, vestibular evoked myogenic potentials, and the video head impulse test, and it also provides BPPV examinations and management. Those with experience providing hearing aid services and an interest in teaching a clinical laboratory course are also encouraged to apply. This position requires an AuD or PhD
. The applicant must have ASHA certification (
CCC-A) and be eligible for TN state licensure.
We are excited to welcome motivated, team-oriented candidates that will complement and expand our existing programmatic strengths. As a clinical faculty member, there is an expectation to provide service to the school, including participating in committees and meetings.
Minimum Position Qualifications
- AuD or PhD in audiology
- Eligible for Tennessee state licensure (audiology with hearing aid dispensing)
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-A) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)
- At least 2 years of post-graduate experience
- Completed at least .2 ASHA continuing education units (CEUs) (2 hours) in the area of clinical education, and .1 CEU (1 hour) in the area of ethics obtained within the past credentialing period. If this is not available, SCSD will assist with an independent study for ASHA CE credit
- Experience supervising students is desirable
