Ghost Rx Inc., a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), is seeking one (1) Medical Transcriptionist to support Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Services at the Lt. Col. Luke Weathers, Jr. VA Medical Center in Memphis, Tennessee. You will produce accurate, timely pathology and laboratory reports that directly support the diagnosis and care of the Veterans who served our country.

Qualification and Requirements
  • U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent resident (Green Card) status required to perform services under this federal contract
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English well enough to communicate effectively with pathologists, laboratory staff, and the care team; basic computer literacy required
  • High school diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited medical transcription or healthcare documentation program preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year of medical transcription experience within the preceding 3 years; pathology or laboratory transcription strongly preferred
  • Registered Healthcare Documentation Specialist (RHDS) or Certified Healthcare Documentation Specialist (CHDS) credential preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, pathology, histology, and laboratory terminology
  • Typing speed of 60+ WPM with a high degree of accuracy; proficiency with digital dictation, speech-recognition editing, and Microsoft Office
  • Experience with VistA/CPRS or another laboratory/anatomic pathology information system preferred
  • Ability to successfully complete a federal background investigation, fingerprinting, and VA credentialing package, including primary-source verification of education and certification
  • Documented immunizations and TB screening; annual privacy, information security, and blood borne pathogen training required
  • Willingness to complete facility orientation and laboratory competency training before beginning the assigned schedule
Responsibilities
  • Transcribe and edit dictated surgical pathology, cytology, autopsy, and bone marrow reports, including gross descriptions, microscopic findings, and final diagnoses
  • Enter and maintain report data in the VA anatomic pathology information system (VistA/CPRS) and route completed reports for pathologist review and electronic signature
  • Verify patient identifiers, accession numbers, and specimen information against requisitions, flagging discrepancies for resolution before release
  • Process addenda, amended reports, and corrections according to laboratory policy, maintaining a complete audit trail
  • Monitor report turnaround times and prioritize STAT, frozen section, and time-sensitive cases
  • Support laboratory clerical functions including report distribution, filing, slide and block log maintenance, and record retrieval
  • Maintain strict confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA, the Privacy Act, and VA information security policies
  • Comply with CAP, CLIA, and Joint Commission documentation standards and all facility rules and procedures
