Manual Machinist

The Machinist at Good Fruit Electric is responsible for operating and maintaining precision machinery to fabricate, modify, and repair components and parts used in electric motors and related equipment.

This role requires a highly-skilled individual with mechanical aptitude, strong-problem solving skills, andthe ability to work without automated systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Machining Operations:
• Operate manual lathes, mills, grinders, and other precision machinery to produce and modify parts to specifications.
• Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to determine dimensions and tolerances.
• Utilize hands-on techniques to machine custom parts.
• Quality Assurance:
• Inspect finished parts to ensure they meet dimensional and quality standards using measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
• Identify and resolve issues related to part discrepancies or machining errors.
• Maintenance and Safety:
• Perform routine maintenance on machines to ensure optimal operation.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
• Work closely with other team members, including engineers and repair technicians, to ensure timely completion of projects.
• Provide feedback on designs and machining processes for continuous improvement.
• Documentation:
• Accurately document work completed, including material usage, time tracking, and inspection results.
• Maintain records of machine settings and programs for repeat jobs.

Qualifications:

• Education & Experience:
• High school diploma or equivalent required;technical training or certification in manual machining preferred.
• Experience in a manual machining role, preferably in an industrial or repair environment.

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawing sand specifications.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 50pounds and stand for extended periods.
• Manual dexterity and ability to handle small components with precision.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

The Machinist will primarily work in a manufacturing orrepair shop setting. The environment may involve:

• Exposure to loud noises and dust from machinery and equipment.
• Working with oils, lubricants, and other chemicals common to machining processes.
• Moderate physical activity, including standing for long periods and handling heavy materials.
• Acollaborative and safety-conscious team atmosphere that emphasizes precision and efficiency.
