Experience in neurological care; ability to titrate drips such as Amiodarone, Heparin, Insulin, and Cardizem.

Description:

This position involves working on a nursing unit specializing in telemetry and neurology care. The unit consists of a total of 32 beds. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:5 during day shifts and 1:6 during night shifts. Licensed Practical Nurses are utilized during night shifts. A charge nurse is present on every shift and takes an assignment. Nurse aides or patient care technicians assist with a ratio of 12-15 patients per technician.

Their responsibilities include taking vital signs, bathing, blood glucose monitoring, and assisting with activities of daily living. The scheduling allows for self-scheduling and block scheduling, with weekend work required every other weekend. Holiday coverage is assigned on a rotating basis. There is a floating requirement, and temporary staff may be called in as a last resort. Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certifications are mandatory.

Experience in managing patients with cardiac, neurological, stroke, and seizure diagnoses is essential. Nurses will read their own cardiac strips each shift using telemetry monitors.
