Veterinary Technician / Assistant (Radiology)

Pet Vet Care Centers is seeking a Veterinary Technician / Assistant (Radiology) to support hospital operations by providing dedicated quality veterinary care and exceptional service.

Position Overview

The Veterinary Technician / Assistant supports hospital operations by providing patient care, conducting examinations, assisting during surgeries, maintaining medical records, and ensuring a safe and humane environment.

Essential Position Functions
  • Conduct examinations, interviews, and diagnostic imaging.
  • Take vital signs, collect samples, administer medications, bandage wounds.
  • Assist with patient examinations and surgeries.
  • Apply advanced anatomical, physiological, pharmacological knowledge.
  • Verify and administer medications, maintain drug security.
  • Maintain a clean patient environment and observe clinical signs.
  • Fill prescriptions, administer medications, document controlled drugs.
  • Sanitize instruments, maintain a sterile environment, comply with regulations.
  • Document medical records accurately and timely.
  • Communicate patient status to owners under veterinarian direction.
  • Maintain equipment, troubleshoot, perform preventive maintenance.
  • Manage inventory, order supplies, verify receipts.
  • Pursue continuing education and read professional journals.
  • Release pets clean and groomed to owners.
  • Follow oral and written directions.
  • Assist in other departments, primarily emergency service when radiology is down.
Radiology

Assist veterinarians providing high‑quality diagnostic imaging services to in‑patient, out‑patient, surgical, and emergency pets.

Schedule

Weekdays, available prior to appointments starting 8:00 AM.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Two or more years of experience with veterinary appointments, surgeries, and nursing care for hospitalized and critical patients.
  • Basic veterinary knowledge, technical skills, ability to lift patients daily.
  • Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT), Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT), Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT), or Licensed Veterinary Medical Technician (LVMT) preferred or required by state.
  • Equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience considered.
Position

Knowledge and Skill Requirements
  • Knowledge of surgery preparation, monitoring, recovery, and basic pet nursing.
  • Correct procedures for catheter placement, phlebotomy, emergency medicine, digital radiology.
  • Limit exposure to bites, scratches, injuries.
  • Restrain patients according to standard procedures.
  • Fill prescriptions and monitor sedation procedures.
  • Work with hazardous materials, cleaning chemicals, gas anesthetics, zoonotic diseases.
  • Confidence and reassurance when dealing with stressed, ill or painful pets.
  • Professional and mature communication.
  • Physically demanding work, lifting up to 50 lb, standing, walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling.
  • Answer phones and perform other duties as needed by the hospital.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Manager or practice.
