Overview
A postdoctoral position is available for a motivated researcher to study neural circuit mechanisms of schizophrenia. The laboratory uses 2-photon laser-scanning microscopy to image neuronal activity in awake mice, focusing on mouse models of genetic risk for schizophrenia, including 22q11.2 and 3q29 deletion syndromes.
Responsibilities- Lead an independent research project to identify abnormal neuronal activities in circuits of murine models of 22q11.2 and 3q29 deletion syndromes.
- Perform 2-photon imaging in awake or behaving animals; utilize optogenetics and chemo genetics as appropriate.
- PhD in neuroscience or related fields
- Experience with optogenetics and chemo genetics
- Hands-on experience with 2-photon imaging techniques
- Experience analyzing time-series data, preferably from neuroimaging or behavioral studies
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment
- MD or PhD in Neuroscience within the last 3 years; experience in 2-photon imaging in freely behaving or head-fixed animals, single-cell electrophysiology, computational neuroscience, and data mining using machine learning methods
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital offers an excellent salary and benefits package and is an equal opportunity employer. The laboratory is part of the Department of Developmental Neurobiology with access to shared resources for rodent behavior testing, neuroimaging, bioinformatics, and advanced image processing.
