Overview

A postdoctoral position is available for a motivated researcher to study neural circuit mechanisms of schizophrenia. The laboratory uses 2-photon laser-scanning microscopy to image neuronal activity in awake mice, focusing on mouse models of genetic risk for schizophrenia, including 22q11.2 and 3q29 deletion syndromes.

Responsibilities
  • Lead an independent research project to identify abnormal neuronal activities in circuits of murine models of 22q11.2 and 3q29 deletion syndromes.
  • Perform 2-photon imaging in awake or behaving animals; utilize optogenetics and chemo genetics as appropriate.
Qualifications
  • PhD in neuroscience or related fields
  • Experience with optogenetics and chemo genetics
  • Hands-on experience with 2-photon imaging techniques
  • Experience analyzing time-series data, preferably from neuroimaging or behavioral studies
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment
Preferred
  • MD or PhD in Neuroscience within the last 3 years; experience in 2-photon imaging in freely behaving or head-fixed animals, single-cell electrophysiology, computational neuroscience, and data mining using machine learning methods
