Job DescriptionThis is an exciting opportunity for a Senior or Lead Researcher to join our Center for Advanced Genome Engineering (CAGE). The CAGE has three missions:
- Facilitate investigator‑initiated genome editing projects using CRISPR‑Cas9
- Perform independent R&D to evaluate and develop new genome editing techniques
- Assist the gene and cell therapy programs e Children’s Research Hospital
As a member of the Shondra Pruett‑Miller laboratory, you will lead complex genome engineering projects, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with investigators across the institution to advance cutting‑edge technologies.
Responsibilities:- Design and optimize genome editing strategies for custom cell lines
- Develop and troubleshoot CRISPR‑based approaches
- Analyze and interpret experimental data; present findings at meetings
- Collaborate with investigators and guide project execution
- Mentor and train junior researchers
Skills:
- Knowledge of molecular biology and genome editing
- Hands‑on experience with CRISPR‑Cas9 technology a plus
- Proficiency in cell culture and related techniques
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Experience with NGS analysis, flow cytometry, or automation is a plus
Minimum Education and/or Training:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific area is required
- 5+ years of research experience is required
- 3+ years of experience is required with a Master’s degree
- No prior experience required with a PhD
- Strong knowledge and experience in understanding and application of underlying principles related to techniques being performed
- Experience in R&D methods and processes in lab setting, and execution of research projects for the laboratory preferred
- Proven performance in earlier role/comparable role
Minimum Education and/or Training:
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant scientific area is required.
- Two (2) years of research experience is required.
- No prior experience is required with a Master’s degree.
- Working knowledge and understanding of the underlying concepts and principles of experimental design.
- Experience with the most widely used techniques used in the home laboratory.
- Proven performance in earlier role/comparable role.

This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $60,320 - $105,040 per year for the role of Lead Researcher OR Senior Researcher for Center for Advanced Genome Engineering.
