Job DescriptionA postdoctoral research associate position is open in Epidemiology & Cancer Control.
We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join the laboratory of Dr. Yadav Sapkota in the Department of Epidemiology and Cancer Control e Children’s Research Hospital. Successful candidates will work on projects related to pharmacogenomics of long‑term toxicities of cancer therapy in childhood cancer survivors. Specific research topics include:
1) genetic association analyses (whole genome and whole exome sequencing and polygenic risk scores) for various long‑term health outcomes among survivors of European and African ancestries;
2) analyses of multi‑omics (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics) and system genetics (e.g., eQTLs regulating molecular responses to cancer therapies in human induced pluripotent stem cells) data to elucidate molecular mechanisms for health outcomes; and
3) evaluating health disparities through pharmacogenomics. The Department of Epidemiology and Cancer Control also has a T32 training grant in cancer survivorship, for which the candidate may be eligible.
The candidate will have ample, immediate opportunities to work with large‑scale whole‑genome and whole‑exome sequencing, RNA‑seq, ATAC‑seq, proteomics, and metabolomics data in a well‑established cohort of childhood cancer survivors with clinically ascertained deep phenotyping of health outcomes at multiple time‑points. S/he will work within a diverse, highly collaborative, and multi‑disciplinary research environment and interact with world leaders in the fields of cancer survivorship, genetics, stem cell pharmacogenomics, epidemiology, biostatistics, and computational biology.
The successful applicant will gain extensive training and experience in genetic epidemiology and pharmacogenomics, and computational and analytical skills with full access to cutting‑edge tools/technologies and shared core facilities and resources. Grant‑writing training opportunities and support are also available.
St Jude Children’s Research Hospital offers competitive salary, excellent benefits, and is an equal‑opportunity employer.
Position qualifications:
- PhD or equivalent degree in genetics, epidemiology, biostatistics, bioinformatics, or a related quantitative field
- Strong publication record
- Strong research interests in genetic epidemiology, pharmacogenomics, statistical genetics, or population genetics and experience in statistical and computational analyses of high‑throughput omics data
- Ability to code in one or more scientific programming languages (e.g., R, Python, C/C++)
- Excellent communication and writing skills
Interested candidates are invited to complete the online application and email your CV and cover letter to Dr. Sapkota (yadav.sapkota).
