As an Unarmed Security Officer, you will be part of a highly trained security team that supports critical facilities and infrastructure, public venues that required an enhanced presence and personal protective services. You’ll be trained by our team of highly qualified firearms instructors in safe weapons handling and marksmanship. As an Unarmed Security Officer, you are an integral part of the broad spectrum of specialized security services Inter-Con provides its clients every day.

- The contractor will provide an on-call supervisor, available 24 hours a day to handle contracted services issues.
- In the event a security guard is unable to perform duties during a shift due to illness, injury, or other reasons, the Contractor shall provide a replacement security guard within one hour from the time the post is vacated.
- Observe and report as part of the contract scope. Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- Maintain a high level of visibility at all times as a deterrent.
- Interact with all clients and visitors in a respectful, courteous, and dignified manner.
- Greet the public, answer simple questions, and notify departments of visitors.
- Have visitors sign in and out on the daily Visitors Log, and issue visitor badges as required.
- Greet and question unescorted visitors who may be in unauthorized areas.
- Secure all doors and access points around the perimeter of the building at the beginning and end of each shift.
- Observe and enforce the City’s No Smoking rule which states No Smoking Within 25 feet of entryways.
- Inform relief security guards of any special situations or instructions prior to vacating post.
- Refrain from using personal cell phones or other devices to take photos or recordings while on duty or on City property. Recordings and posting of any material on social media is strictly prohibited.
- Limit telephone calls to business or personal emergencies.
- Prevent journalists from proceeding into unauthorized areas and contact the Chief Communication Officer if media presence is detected.
- Recognize that journalists have a right to request entrance to a public building, but disallow disruptions or interviews with clients or City employees who do not wish to provide statements.
- Disallow use of video or audio equipment unless approved by the Chief Communication Officer.
- Assist City employees with defusing arguments or disturbances with the public, inside or outside the City office.
- Threatening situations shall be reported immediately to local authorities by calling 9-1-1, to the first available supervisor and the Facility Manager.
- Security guards may be asked to help with difficult clients or to escort individuals to their vehicles; they shall comply with requests unless doing so would significantly lower the level of security required.
- Security guards may be asked to deny access to individuals deemed potentially violent.
- Notify local authorities by calling 9-1-1 if an individual exhibits behavior that could be violent or disruptive.
- Enforce the rule forbidding weapons and/or contraband from being brought into City buildings, with certain exceptions for security personnel, police, and other officials.
- If contraband or weapons are discovered, items shall be confiscated and the Security Guard shall contact the Officer of the Day or the first available supervisor; the peace officer shall be notified if the suspect is turned over.
- Monitoring video surveillance.
