Security Officer – Shelter Patrol

Location: Memphis, TN

Position Type: Part Time

Pay Rate: $15.73 / Hour

What You’ll Do:

• Provide customer service to clients, visitors, and residents by carrying out security-related procedures and site‑specific policies at the shelter location.
• Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem‑solving manner, following established protocols.
• Conduct regular and random patrols around the facility and its perimeter to deter unwanted activity and identify potential security‑related concerns.
• Observe and report any suspicious activity or security‑related incidents to the appropriate personnel or authorities.
• Assist with access control by monitoring entrances and exits, verifying identification as required, and helping enforce shelter policies.
• Support emergency response activities when appropriate, including evacuations or providing guidance in urgent situations.
• Maintain detailed and accurate logs and reports of patrols, incidents, and daily activities as required by Allied Universal and the client site.
• Communicate professionally with staff, residents, and visitors to address inquiries or concerns related to security matters at the shelter location.

Minimum Requirements:

• A valid driver’s license is required in accordance with Allied Universal driver policy requirements.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Experience in primarily driving posts is preferred.
• Experience with access control and/or badge systems is preferred.
• Comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
