Large Crane Operator for Frayser jobsite

Seeking a large crane operator for bridge jobsite in Frayser, TN. Continuing work available at other jobsites after completion, but initial jobsite will be in Frayser, TN. Applicants must have crane certification through an accredited institute and proven crane operator experience to be considered. Hourly pay for large crane operator starts at $32.51/hour. Benefits include medical, dental, life insurance, and more to start after 60 days.

Hourly/Non-Exempt

Reports to: Foreman, Superintendent, or General Manager

Work Hours: Monday – Friday, 10 hour work days (typical), longer work days may be necessary

May require Saturday, Sunday, or night shifts when necessary

Subject to seasonal layoff periods

Job sites are typically located in West Tennessee. The work environment can include excessive heat, cold, wind, rain, and other weather related conditions. At times, work will be conducted on uneven terrain, at heights, and near or over water. The employee will also work around moving mechanical parts, and the noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes, such as asphalt, or airborne particles, such as dust.

Crane operators are responsible for operating a mobile crane on safety sensitive highway and bridge construction sites. Job duties could vary depending on the jobsite and/or location where the Crane Operator is assigned. New employees are required to complete Safety Orientation, EEO, and Flagger training. All employees are required to perform all job duties in a safe manner in order to avoid injuries to themselves, other crew members, and the general public.

Job Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Crane Operator
  • Crane certifications through an accredited institute
  • Ability to read technical documents and drawings
  • Willingness to follow safety guidelines at all times
  • Good understanding of mathematics
  • Ability to work as a team
  • Must be able to pass drug screenings and maintain a drug free workplace
  • Must be in good physical condition and endurance and pass a pre-employment physical
  • Must be able to physically perform the essential duties and responsibilities as documented on the Functional Job Description for this position
  • Must have good vision and hearing
  • Must possess a current valid drivers’ license and have reliable transportation
  • Must be ready to learn from on-the-job training when necessary
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Assist with activities of oiler, truck drivers, or helpers in setting up and tearing down equipment
  • Assist other crew members with various tasks as needed
  • Operate a crane according to signals from oiler or rigger and may assist with installation of boom sections to modify boom lengths
  • Perform routine maintenance
  • Carry tools for running repairs
  • Properly barricades counterweight swing radius
  • Takes complete charge of all safety pertaining to set up/tear down and operation of crane
  • Follow instructions from supervisor(s)
  • Attendance, punctuality and reporting to supervisor is required
  • Must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed and as required
  • Attend all Tool Box Talks, ongoing safety training, and other on-the-job training
  • Performs other duties as assigned
