Night Dispatcher

Position Summary

We are seeking a Night Dispatcher to provide centralized after-hours support for multiple terminal locations. This role is critical to ensuring smooth operations for customers that require 24-hour service. Initially, the position will focus on monitoring and assisting our Memphis and Savannah terminals, with the potential to expand as Sea Lane grows.

  Night Shift | Start Approximately 7:00 PM Eastern | 8-Hour Shift

• Monitor and manage after-hours operations across multiple terminals.
• Ensure on-time deliveries and provide PINs for port or rail billing.
• Update dispatched freight status and driver assignments in the system.
• Optimize fleet utilization and capacity across multiple locations.
• Manage documents and confirm in the Transportation Management (TM) system for invoicing purposes.
• Respond promptly to operational challenges and elevate issues as needed.
• Maintain accurate records and communicate updates to day-shift teams.
• Performs all other duties or projects as assigned.

Associate degree (AA) from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Transportation experience is a must – preferably both port and rail.
• Rail experience is strongly preferred; port experience can be trained more easily.
• Strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to multi-task and manage 20+ trucks across multiple terminals.
• Intermediate Excel skills required:
  • Pivot tables, formulas, VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP (not just basic data entry).
• Familiarity with DOT Hours of Service and DOT regulations.
• Good geographical knowledge of terminal locations.
• Excellent communication skills (bi-lingual a plus, but not mandatory).
• Fleet optimization and capacity planning experience.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

• Sedentary physical activity requiring reaching, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, feeling, repetitive motions, talking, and hearing.
• Visual requirement is for close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
• 90% or more time is spent looking directly at a computer.
• Employee is frequently required to stand, walk (or otherwise be mobile).
• Employee is frequently required to lift and carry a minimum of 15 pounds.
• Ability to deal with stressful situations as they arise.

Duties are primarily performed in an office environment. Minimal physical effort is required. Lifting and carrying requirements of up to 15 pounds. Occasional or frequent ability to move boxes from one location to another.
