Job Summary

Apply for the Acquisition Accountant role at Summit Companies
. The Acquisition Accountant assists with a broad range of accounting processes and is instrumental in acquisition transaction processes. This role performs analysis, reconciliations, and reporting requires cross‑functional collaboration and an in‑depth understanding of transaction flow. The position also supports transition to Summit ERP systems and processes from prior acquisition systems.

Job Duties
  • Participate in due diligence, pre‑acquisition, and post‑acquisition meetings with internal parties to prepare for upcoming acquisitions and assist with the transition of an acquisition to Summit processes.
  • Facilitate pre‑ and post‑acquisition calls with the seller to help their transition to Summit processes.
  • Review purchase agreements to prepare and record purchase price allocations in the Summit ERP system.
  • Prepare and/or assist with initial data loads for Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Deferred Revenue, Work‑in‑Process, Customers, and Vendors.
  • Serve as a point of contact for a new acquisition to assist with questions or direct the team to the correct individual within Summit.
  • Prepare reconciliations for net working capital true‑ups and monitor progress of various items within the true‑up period.
  • Assist in preparing post‑closing documents and reconciliations related to net working capital.
  • Prepare schedules and assemble data for auditors as requested.
  • Prepare schedules and assemble data for tax preparers as requested.
  • Collaborate with and assist team members both within the accounting department and across the organization.
  • Communicate at all levels of the organization and with customers in a professional manner.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field (required).
  • CPA preferred.
  • 2‑4 years’ accounting experience including preparation of financial statements and reporting packages.
  • Intermediate math skills, customer service, problem‑solving skills, decision‑making skills, ability to multitask, billing experience, and ability to plan and organize (required).
  • Advanced math skills, merger and acquisition experience, and construction experience preferred.
  • Must read, write, and communicate in English with employees and customers.
  • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams). Experience with Sales Force, Invoice Router, Timberline, Microsoft Access, and Ulti Pro preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record (required).
  • Must comply with Summit’s Drug and Alcohol policy and background screening requirements.
  • Position based in Mendota Heights, MN, eligible for hybrid work schedules.
