Salary: 90,000. USD / YEAR
Pay Type / Range: Salary. $90,000 - $125,000 per year (based on experience and qualifications). Bonus Program eligibility. (This pay range is a good-faith estimate of compensation for this role.)

This position is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for private paving projects. This role requires strong analytical skills, industry knowledge, and the ability to communicate effectively with clients, vendors, and internal project teams.

- Develop and maintain customer relationships
- Prospect for project opportunities and conduct risk assessment
- Prepare accurate and timely proposals while assessing client’s needs and wants.
- Solicit reliable subcontractors (RFQs) and suppliers’ quotes.
- Perform project set‑up on all awarded projects including contract/subcontract approvals, Build2
Win, Spectrum, work order, and scheduling - Be on top of project to help anticipate “problems.”
- Regularly communicate with supervisor and customer.
- Be accountable to all stakeholders.
- Ensure timely billing and subcontractor/supplier payment authorizations.
- Participate in management and marketing.
- Represent positively at industry/networking events.
- Work collaboratively – mentor and assist other estimators.
- Assist with timely workload inventory communication (aka LRS)
- Consult with Sr. Estimator regularly to help steer estimators.
- Assist with sales objectives development and adaptation.
- Develop and cultivate key customer accounts.
Education and Experience
- 3 - 5 years of Estimating experience in the highway heavy construction industry
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience working with both unit-price and lump-sum estimates.
- Knowledge of local markets, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Previous estimating experience in asphalt paving, sitework, or heavy civil construction required.
- Strong knowledge of asphalt materials, paving processes, and construction practices.
- Proficiency with estimating software (B2W or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent math, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and contract documents.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Accountability, accuracy, and strong time management skills
- Highly organized with attention to detail and deadlines.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to perform site visits.
- Office‑based with frequent travel to project sites, client meetings, and pre‑bid walkthroughs.
