Pay Type / Range:

Union Journeyman Scale. $49.00 – 50.00 per hour (based on union, experience, and type of work).

(This pay range is a good-faith estimate of compensation for this role.)

Job Summary

Our Utility Foreman is responsible for supervising and coordinating daily utility construction activities on site, including installation and repair of water, sewer, storm drain, and other underground utilities. This role ensures crews work safely, efficiently, and according to plans, specifications, and quality standards.

Job Duties & Requirements

  • Lead and manage utility crews on construction projects.
  • Communicate with estimators and customers to create a schedule.
  • Schedule and coordinate daily work activities to meet production goals.
  • Ensure safety of crew and the public (tool box talks).
  • Attend pre-con meetings and take notes.
  • Inform employees of days’ work and expectations.
  • Maintaining and submitting required reporting
  • Setting up safety signage, cones and safety barriers and at times flagging traffic
  • Mentor and train in employees.
  • Create a safe work environment and lead by example.
  • Ensure jobs are clean daily.
  • Provide crews with what they need.
  • Be a positive influence on others within the organization.
  • Communicate changes as they happen.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed field reports.
  • Help manage customer expectations.
  • Adhere to all   safety policies and ensure employees are doing the same.
  • Wear and monitor employees for PPE use and discuss issues with anyone not complying.
  • Check field logs to make sure field reporting must-haves are on report before approving.
  • Other Duties as assigned
Preferred

Education and Experience
  • 5+ years of utility construction experience, with at least 1-2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of underground utility construction, including pipe laying, trenching, and safety procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
  • Proficient with field technology.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (CDL preferred).
  • OSHA 10/30 certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Effective leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability
  • Professional conduct
  • Industry knowledge/hands‑on experience preferred
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions and physically demanding environments.
