Hydrovac Operator
Position Summary:
Are you enthusiastic about safe excavation and operating equipment? Bituminous Roadways, Inc. (BR) is a growing, award-winning, and established union highway/heavy contractor looking for an experienced Hydrovac Operator to join our team. In this role, you’ll use high-pressure water and vacuum systems to dig precisely and efficiently, uncover utilities, and contribute to various construction projects. The Hydrovac Operator is responsible for performing many different tasks that require physical labor during all phases on the construction site.
Job Duties:
- Exposing utilities for design and excavation purposes, using hydro excavation and potholing.
- Perform vacuum excavation activities near utilities such as coring, drilling, shoveling, and more.
- Maintain detailed daily inspection logs.
- Possess and exercise good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Promptly report any accidents, injuries, or mechanical faults to management.
- Possess working knowledge of construction site safety, maintenance, and road safety regulations. Operate in a safe and productive manner.
- Understand and know DOT rules and regulations.
- Be aware of surroundings. Upon entering a job site locate all overhead and backing hazards such as power lines, railroad crossings, light poles. Be consistently vigilant of these hazards.
- Familiarity with the Employee Handbook and Guidelines for Trucking Provider and Drivers.
- Perform general clean up at each site, responsible for loading and unloading supplies.
- Maintain onsite equipment and tools used.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Previous experience operating vac truck required.
- Knowledge of the Twin Cities and surrounding area.
- Class A or B (CDL), tanker endorsement, and valid license required.
- All candidates are required to pass a thorough Background Check, Physical and Drug Test. References will also be checked.
- Ability to work variable shifts with extended hours.
- Must be able to lift, push, pull 50+ pounds and have the physical stamina for manual labor in varying weather conditions.
