Tax Manager Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced
Tax Manager to join our boutique CPA firm in California. The ideal candidate will be a leader who thrives in a collaborative environment and is dedicated to providing exceptional client service and strategic tax planning. This role requires a professional with a strong technical background and a passion for mentoring junior staff while managing a diverse client portfolio.
Location: Redwood City, CA.

Responsibilities- Oversee and review the preparation of complex federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and trusts.
- Develop and implement strategic tax planning and compliance procedures to minimize client tax liabilities while ensuring adherence to all federal and state regulations.
- Serve as a primary point of contact and trusted advisor for clients, addressing complex tax issues and providing proactive consulting and advice.
- Manage client engagements, including project scheduling, budgeting, and billing, to ensure timely and high-quality deliverables within scope and budget.
- Supervise, train, and mentor a team of tax professionals and staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
- Conduct thorough tax research and analysis, documenting conclusions and recommending appropriate courses of action.
- Identify opportunities for business process improvements and contribute to the firm's growth and business development initiatives.
- Education: A
bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field is required. An active CPA, Master’s degree in Taxation or an MBA is a plus. - Experience: A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in public accounting with a strong focus on tax compliance and consulting.
- Certification: A current and valid Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license in the State of California is highly preferred or required.
- Technical

Advanced proficiency in professional tax software (e.g., LaCerte, QBO, Tax Dome, Accountants World, TPS timekeeping software, and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel). - Soft Skills:
