Director – Workforce Optimization
Stanford Health Care is seeking a dynamic leader to drive labor efficiency and productivity across the organization. The role will develop, plan, and implement innovative workforce strategies that align with Stanford’s goals and improve operational performance.
A Brief Overview- Lead workforce optimization initiatives to achieve strategic labor productivity goals.
- Design and execute workforce strategies that support organizational objectives and foster continuous improvement.
- Establish and monitor performance metrics linking workforce initiatives to measurable outcomes.
Menlo Park, CA – 145 El Camino Real
What You Will Do- Lead and manage the Workforce Optimization team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation.
- Develop and implement comprehensive workforce optimization strategies, policies, and best practices.
- Engage stakeholders across the organization to identify workforce needs and drive productivity enhancements.
- Lead change management efforts, including training and support for staff.
- Monitor and analyze workforce performance metrics, providing reports and recommendations to senior leadership.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field;
Master’s degree preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience.
- Experience leading workforce management initiatives that result in labor savings and increased efficiency.
- Operational experience across all areas within the organization.
- Track record partnering with executive leaders to achieve strategic business goals.
- Deep understanding of financial management tools, dashboards, and technology for workforce optimization.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Expertise in workforce management functions and best practices.
- Strong project management, leadership, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience influencing cross‑functional areas beyond direct reporting lines.
- Business and financial acumen with analytical problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- People leadership skills, including mentoring and training.
- Effective communication of complex concepts in simple terms.
- Strong working relationships across the organization.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to workforce management.
- Working knowledge of productivity and position management data and analytics.
Preferred
- Experience with Workday HCM for staffing management.
- Experience with Strata financial reporting.
- Experience working in academic medical centers.

Base Pay ScaleGenerally starting at $94.35 – $125.03 per hour. Salary will be set based on internal equity, experience, education, and other factors. This pay scale is not a promised wage.
