Summary:
Network Routing team is part of the overall Meta Infrastructure organization and develops software for our entire network. We cover our ever-growing data centers, the global backbone that connects all our locations, our edge points-of-presence, and AI network. We are looking for a manager who will lead this group of engineers solving routing problems to build and scale our rapidly evolving network infrastructure.
Routing is a fundamental area of networking and an exciting field of large scale, critical distributed systems. This team tackles routing problems from several dimensions including rock-solid routing protocol stack (BGP and Open/R), intelligent routing applications to achieve production safety, simplicity, and efficiency on top of SDN controller framework, and service reachability provisioning. As the leader of this team, you will drive introducing in-house routing technologies to Meta backbone and AI network.
You will be in charge of routing in Meta data centers, backbone, and AI network, connecting servers and users. Generally, we embrace entrepreneurs as well as those who come from more established organizations. Software Engineering Managers are clearly characterized by progressive technical experience and demonstrated progression in management responsibility. You have also kept your coding skills sharp and bring an unwavering passion for managing the dynamics of a fast-paced environment.

Software Engineering Manager, Network Routing Responsibilities:
Hold your own in technical discussions, be a subject matter expert, and have strategic influence
Help define and drive regular development of a technical roadmap to meet the needs of the team, and partner teams
Operate in a rapidly evolving environment, adapting quickly to new information and re-prioritizing as needed
Manage software engineers building, scaling, deploying, and supporting network systems for our global network infrastructure
Help engineers develop their careers, assigning them to projects tailored to their skill levels, long-term skill development, personalities, and work styles
Set clear expectations and create a work environment based on accountability, in collaboration with the engineering and management teams
Interact with external partners as needed in resolving dependencies associated with objectives
Communicate and collaborate effectively with cross-functional software and network engineering teams
Assess employee performance frequently, address under-performance, and recognize and promote outstanding performance
Work closely with dedicated recruiting staff to expand the team, including sourcing candidates, interviewing candidates, participating in conferences/events, and onboarding new employees
Minimum Qualifications:

BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
5+ years experience managing a networking-related software engineering team
Experience with software development for distributed and embedded systems
Demonstrated experience recruiting and managing technical teams, including performance management and managing engineers
Working knowledge of networking, distributed systems, routing protocols, or control-plane aspects of network switches

Experience working with open source networking projects
Experience with network routing protocols or SDN controller development
Experience with network devices (routers, switches, load balancers)
Public Compensation:
$177,000/year to $251,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
