Base pay range: $22.00/hr - $40.00/hr. 2nd shift premium: $1.50/hr.

DYNAMIC COMPONENTS / ENGINE BUILD-UP TRAINEE

Non-Exempt (2nd shift premium $1.50/hr)
Assemble machined parts and subassemblies for complex precision assemblies; inspect, adjust, overhaul/repair used precision assemblies such as main rotor spindles, hub assemblies, dampers, rotor shafts, transmissions, tail rotor gearboxes, and engine build-ups according to specifications; sign off as legally appropriate as a repairman under certification of FAR 65.103. Select appropriate subassembly parts, measure tolerances with micrometers, vernier calipers; hone, buff, drill, tap, ream, countersink, and spotface bolt holes;
position and align parts using jigs, fixtures, and templates; assemble with appropriate hardware and lockwire. In addition to forming main rotor and tail rotor assemblies, the trainee will assemble dampers, perform hydraulic tests, record results, assemble correlators and drive belts, install bearings and sleeves, install swashplates, and install control rods. Inspect and test completed work to assure conformance, adjust and repair assemblies, maintain records and tools, and observe all safety regulations.
Knowledge,
Skills and Abilities
- Experience in manufacturing, maintenance, and repair of helicopter components and engine/power plant.
- Knowledge of theory and mechanics of assembled components, including hydraulic theory.
- Certification as repairman per FAR 65.103 or A&P license.
- Ability to build precision assemblies and subassemblies in the transmission room area.
- Ability to use hand and power tools, arbor press, and other equipment.
- Ability to use precision measuring devices such as micrometers, vernier calipers, depth gauges.
- Ability to perform complex, precision work with hands.
- Ability to read and work blueprints and specifications.
- Ability to keep records.
- Ability to troubleshoot problems independently.
- Ability to work and problem-solve with minimal supervision.
- Ability to use shop mathematics.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to work overtime.
- Must be able to meet personal tool requirements.
