Responsibilities
  • Lead by example to promote a robust and transparent safety culture.
  • Follow and support safety regulations and company policies, fostering a culture of workplace safety.
  • Utilize knowledge of Masonry field work to accurately estimate project scope, manpower needs, work hours, material requirements and resource management to create an accurate and profitable budget for self‑performance work.
  • Coordinate and manage department documentation, including RFI tracking to partners, clients and owners.
  • Actively manage and track project schedule and budget to ensure accurate financial forecasting.
  • Manage contract and relationship with general contracting partners for optimal client experience.
  • Coordinate and manage material pricing, including potential alternates and efficiencies.
  • Review project specs and scopes and ask questions where clarification is needed, both internally and externally.
  • Actively manage and track bid metrics and values for accurate pipeline management and financial forecasting.
  • Secure at least 3 bids per scope on all trades/divisions, including soliciting new trade partners and subcontractors.
  • Schedule time with Trade Superintendents and subject matter experts, both internal and external, to understand constructability and resource capabilities, including approach, hours/timing, equipment, materials, tools, and manpower.
  • Visit job sites and explore how estimating can positively impact construction delivery including costs, phasing, resource planning and scope auditing.
  • Highlight risks in project including scope coverage deficiencies, subcontract, schedule and resource exposure.
  • Perform takeoffs and support documents to ensure accurate estimates and bids.
  • Send out, track and follow up on bid invites and ensure bid coverage by trade and scope.
  • Be an active participant and contributor, including potentially leading team coordination, for bid day activities and overall support, as needed.
  • Assist team members, including project managers, in buyout and repricing exercises, as needed.
  • Be knowledgeable and proficient on all software and platforms including Bluebeam, MS 365 Suite, Trimble and any other project software required by J.H. Hassinger Inc. or our clients/partners.
  • Manage accurate bid board and track all estimating opportunities.
  • Serve as a positive Ambassador at outside partner lunch and learns, partner and subcontractor events.
  • Send out bid invites and track who will be responding to ensure scope coverage.
  • Actively outreach and contact new vendors for current and future opportunities.
  • Apply for target funds in support on union projects.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree, vocational training, certification from an accreditation organization, or combination of schooling and relevant work experience
  • Valid Driver's License and ability to meet commercial insurance requirements
  • A minimum 5+ years' experience estimating masonry trade work for a self‑performance construction company
  • A minimum 5+ years' experience in the field performing masonry trade work for a self‑performance construction company preferred
  • Ability to lift, carry or hold 26-50 lbs. more than 10 times per day
  • Ability to perform low posture, crouching, crawling, kneeling or squatting activities
  • Ability to work occasional weekends, evenings and holidays
  • Ability to clearly communicate with others and convey information effectively
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
  • Ability to manage own time and the time of others
  • Ability to motivate, develop and direct people
