Electrical Estimator

Under the direction of the Estimating Manager, the Estimator is responsible for preparing cost estimates and communicating with external and internal clients—including Project Managers, engineers, vendors, architects, owners, and contractors—for scope review, design options, and pricing of change orders.

• Review bid package requirements, analyze drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
• Coordinate with the project manager and project coordinator on any documentation that needs to be submitted with the bid.
• Work with vendors to identify specific items for the project, prepare and send out quote requests, vet quotes for accuracy, and enter pricing information into appropriate tracking documents and estimating software.
• Calculate cost by analyzing labor, material, equipment, subcontractor bids, and time requirements.
• Organize estimates from beginning to end, ensuring all aspects of the bid are accounted for.

• Electrical field experience
• Estimating experience in the field
• Knowledge of electrical installation practices, codes, and equations
• General understanding of standards: NEC, NFPA, and IBC as related to design and documentation
• Ability to read and interpret plans, schematics, layout drawings, and wiring diagrams and modify them for optimization
• Detail‑oriented and accurate
• Team‑player
• Self‑motivated
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Proficiency with computer software (MS Excel, MS Word, Accubid)
