As a senior quality systems and compliance engineer, you architect the processes that keep our programs audit-ready and our products battle-ready. You design quality plans, lead investigations, and strengthen the supply base while aligning stakeholders around data, compliance, and continuous improvement.
- Translate customer/military requirements into detailed quality plans and deployment activities.
- Provide indirect leadership to engineers, technicians, and inspectors; mentor junior quality engineers.
- Define and implement program procedures, schedules, and resource allocations to optimize quality support.
- Review/approve engineering, test, and contractor documentation to ensure requirements coverage.
- Design and implement quality system processes, procedures, and work instructions.
- Establish product/process metrics; monitor, analyze, and communicate performance trends.
- Lead internal audits and close the loop with robust root cause and corrective actions.
- Chair MRB and FRB; evaluate and disposition nonconforming material.
- Support Assembly/Test/Inspection with workmanship improvement plans, inspection methods/criteria, sampling plans, specification interpretation/revision, and nonconformance processing.
- Serve as the key interface to customers and senior management to resolve quality issues and drive corrective actions for process and product performance.
- Advance supplier quality: assess and recommend critical suppliers; lead on-site audits; evaluate prototypes; review/approve supplier corrective actions; foster continuous improvement.
- Execute customer quality program requirements and verify compliance across deliverables.
- Manage the financial implications of quality controls and inspection strategies; recommend cost/benefit optimizations.
- Produce clear, actionable quality engineering reports and status updates.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical discipline; 5+ years in manufacturing (defense preferred).
- ASQ certification or Black Belt preferred.
- Strong command of ISO standards, Six Sigma techniques, and statistics.
- Ability to interpret military specifications and complex blueprints.
- Outstanding communication, negotiation, interpersonal, and technical writing skills.
- Expertise in problem framing, root cause analysis, and durable corrective action implementation.
