Shift: Shift 1 (Monday-Friday 07:30-16:00 or 08:30-16:30 TBD)
The Pulmonary Diagnostic Practitioner is responsible for performing Respiratory Care and Pulmonary Diagnostic procedures on outpatients, in accordance with established policies and procedures, in the treatment, management, control, diagnostic evaluation, and care of patients that may have deficiencies and abnormalities associated with the cardiopulmonary system. These duties may include, but are not limited to, therapeutic and diagnostic procedures using medical gases and administrative apparatus, environmental control systems, humidification and aerosols;
administration of drugs and medications to the cardiopulmonary system; bronchopulmonary drainage and breathing exercises; patient teaching; arranging for DME for patient’s home usage; calibration/preventative maintenance on all equipment; data management, report generation and distribution/filing of reports; and charge entry. Other duties as assigned.
A minimum of two years of clinical experience in respiratory care and one year minimum of previous experience in pulmonary function testing is required. Three years of previous experience in a pulmonary function laboratory is preferred.
EducationGraduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy Program is required.
LicensureCurrent licensure to practice respiratory care in the State of Wisconsin is required. Credentialed as a certified respiratory therapy technician by the National Board for Respiratory Care (CRTT) is required. Certified Pulmonary Function Technician (CPFT) is required within 12 months of hire. Staff hired prior to November 1, 2003 without the CPFT are grandfathered into this job code/position number. All other staff must maintain an active CPFT.
American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent is required upon hire.
