Summary:
The Surgical Technologist handles instruments, supplies and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure. Has an understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. Maintains a sterile field and ensures quality patient care during the operative procedure. Performs related duties to support department cost containment, efficiency, and quality performance.
- Handle instruments, supplies and equipment necessary during surgical procedures
- Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and maintain the sterile field
- Support department efficiency, cost containment, and quality performance
- Minimum of 1 year of work experience as a Surgical Technologist
- Competent in the role and able to independently perform surgical technology tasks
- Ability to anticipate surgeons' needs; advanced knowledge recognized by staff
- Ability to first assist is preferred
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Post-high school education, certification or diploma required
- Completion of a Surgical Technologist program, Military Operating Room Specialist course, or Froedtert Health sponsored apprentice II program required
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or equivalent required within 90 days of hire
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist is highly preferred
