Position

Summary

The role of a CNC Machinist II is to perform intermediate to complex machining and programming activities in line with company capabilities. This position requires full proficiency as a CNC Machinist I and the ability to apply CNC principles, procedures, and setups unique to the company to execute machining strategies. Enthusiasm to further develop machining skills and demonstrate problem‑solving skills is crucial for success.

Functions
  • Read and interpret prints, specification sheets, and/or 3D files to determine program strategy.
  • Select appropriate machine based on project specifications.
  • Locate, open, and save 3D files associated with project, post program to a machine using network links.
  • Program parts using 2D and/or 3D toolpaths using Surfcam or Mastercam on mill and/or lathe; modify existing programs to enhance efficiency.
  • Select the proper cutting tools needed to machine parts based on part geometry.
  • Design custom fixtures for work holding as needed.
  • Calculate cutting speeds and feeds and the depth of cuts based on material and work holding.
  • Select and prepare raw materials for machining.
  • Setup and operate multiple machines to perform milling and/or lathe activities.
  • Perform dimensional and visual inspection of parts per specifications using basic measuring equipment.
  • Track individual labor time using ERP system.
  • Collaborate with team members to clarify project requirements and resolve issues.
  • Provide advice or solutions in technical areas for less experienced machinists.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to calculate time and material costs for quoting purposes.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and increased efficiencies for machining and tooling selection through research and development.
  • Assist with cleaning and preventative maintenance of machines, tools, and workstations.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
