Job Duties:
This position is responsible for the performance of electrical tasks listed below at a journeyman level for new, remodel and repair projects for the University. Invididuals must be able to interpret wiring schematics, blueprints and codes. Individuals to install, service and maintain electrical systems for all types of structures, equipment, accessories and related components in a safe, efficient and knowledgeable manner.
Individuals to use and maintain all materials, tools and equipment of trade in a safe and knowledgeable manner. Employee shift is 7:00 am - 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday.

Job Responsibilities:
* Gathers materials, prepares work area, and maintains equipment and supplies needed for jobs
* Cleans work area upon completion of projects according to established guidelines and expectations
* Completes skilled electrical installations and repairs according to established trade standards and applicable building and safety codes in various work environments
* Interprets blueprints and drawings and completes electrical calculations to assess and determine specifications and to calculate the materials and equipment required. Discusses project plan with customer/client
* Reviews finished projects with client/customer. Maintains records and reports of work status and completion according to established deadlines and expectations
* Collaborates with and assists contractors as needed
Department:
The Facilities Management Department is a service unit that reports to the Vice Chancellor of Business, Finance, and Administrative Services and provides many services to the UW-Stout campus including building and grounds maintenance, facility modifications and improvements, custodial services, snow removal, landscaping, campus planning & engineering, construction management, purchasing, fleet services, key management, campus inventory management, campus heat/steam production and chilled water, building openings and closings, event setup and teardown, moving services, trash and recycling collection, etc.
The mission of Facilities Management is to provide quality service in an efficient, professional manner while being fiscally responsible to ensure campus safety and comfort. Our focus is to continually improve and ensure customer satisfaction.
Compensation:
Minimum $46.35 hourly, per the UW System Trade Agreement.
This has been identified as a Crafts Worker position. Crafts Workers may elect an increased vacation allocation with a corresponding reduction to the prevailing rate. Please see the options below and more information can be found here.
Adjusted 100 Hour Leave Rate: $47.85
Adjusted 140 Hour Leave Rate: $47.09
Adjusted 180 Hour Leave Rate: $46.35
A six month probationary period is required.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum
* Knowledge and experience of tools, equipment, (exp. motor starters, frequency drives, multimeter, amprobe,), materials, methods and practices of the electrical trade; safety requirements.
* Knowledge of state and federal electrical codes and ability to recognize occupational hazards and necessary precautions in the electrical trade.
* Ability to read and interpret complex circuit diagrams in order to install, repair and maintain campus electrical systems.
* Ability to design, layout and develop material lists for repair or new installation work
* Must possess basic mathematical skills; including addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication (necessary to complete work orders and estimate projects).
* Skills necessary to ensure proper materials and application techniques are used to meet manufacturer's written requirements.
* Visual acuity and ability necessary to read and understand written instructions, information, construction documents (Le. blueprints and specifications), work orders hazardous substance warnings, and manufacturer's technical information.
* Good verbal and written communication skills and Interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with coworkers, supervisory and other University employees in order to maintain a smooth functioning work unit.
* Skill in operation of aerial lift equipment such as, a scissor lift and extendable boom lift.
* Ability to delegate and prioritize work.
* Strong computer skills including knowledge and ability to use email, Microsoft Word, Excel and navigate software for timekeeping
* Ability to navigate computer-based building maintenance systems.
* Interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with coworkers, supervisory and other University employees in order to maintain a smooth functioning work unit.
* Good work habits, such as attendance, punctuality, accountability, thoroughness and resourcefulness.
