Location: Minneapolis, MN |
Schedule: Full-time, field-based with regional travel
An established distributor of CNC machine tools is seeking a CNC Field Service Technician to support its customer base across the upper Midwest. This role is central to keeping customers' CNC equipment running at peak performance through hands-on maintenance, repair, and technical support.
What you'll do- Travel to customer sites throughout MN, WI, SD, ND and the surrounding region to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain CNC machine tools, controls, and related equipment
- Perform preventive maintenance and identify opportunities for performance improvement
- Diagnose and resolve issues with mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic components
- Use manuals, technical documentation, and internal/vendor support to troubleshoot complex problems
- Clearly communicate equipment status, repairs, and recommendations to customers
- Accurately complete and submit service and installation reports
- Ensure customer commitments are met with a high standard of professionalism and technical excellence
- Build and maintain positive relationships with vendors, suppliers, and customers
- Stay current on new technologies and product updates through ongoing training and technical seminars
- Maintain deep technical knowledge of all equipment lines represented by the company
- Perform other duties as assigned
- 3+ years of hands-on experience repairing or maintaining CNC machinery
- Experience with rotating machinery, spindles, and precision bearings
- Strong understanding of CNC controls and basic electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics
- Advanced troubleshooting skills with high attention to detail and technical accuracy
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant business software
- Valid driver's license required and ability to travel up to 25% throughout the assigned territory
- Comfortable interacting professionally under pressure with customers and colleagues
