Position SummaryThe Lead Toddler Teacher is responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, organized, and developmentally appropriate classroom for young children. This position supports toddlers as they develop independence, communication, social‑emotional skills, and important early learning skills through play and daily routines.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain the health, safety, and active supervision of all children.
- Create a warm, welcoming, organized, and engaging toddler classroom.
- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate, hands‑on learning experiences.
- Follow MKC curriculum and classroom expectations.
- Support language development, social‑emotional skills, independence, and positive behavior.
- Assist children with daily routines, including meals, diapering, toileting, handwashing, and rest time.
- Observe and document children's development using Teaching Strategies GOLD and other required assessment tools.
- Maintain accurate classroom records and required documentation.
- Communicate regularly and professionally with families through Procare and in‑person conversations.
- Share appropriate classroom updates and photos with families.
- Maintain classroom cleanliness, organization, and sanitation.
- Work cooperatively with assistant teachers and support staff.
- Build positive relationships with children, families, and coworkers.
- Follow all MKC policies and Ohio childcare licensing requirements.
- Participate in staff meetings, training, professional development, and center events.
- Be dependable, punctual, flexible, and willing to support the needs of the center.
- Previous experience working with toddlers or young children preferred.
- CDA, Associate's Degree, Bachelor's Degree, or coursework in Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred.
- Must meet all Ohio childcare licensing requirements for the position.
- CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain certification.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work positively and professionally as part of a team.
- Patience, energy, and a genuine passion for working with toddlers.
A successful Lead Toddler Teacher provides a classroom where children are safe, loved, engaged, and encouraged to grow. They understand that toddler learning happens throughout the entire day—from play and planned activities to meals, diapering, potty training, transitions, and everyday conversations.
