Responsibilities

  • Support day‑to‑day product and process operations for coating and compounding assets in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.
  • Be a business partner to the site leadership team.
  • Identify and analyze production problems using Six Sigma methodologies to control and improve manufacturing processes.
  • Reduce loss and continuously improve coating line productivity and product quality through problem solving, Six Sigma, and project management skills.
  • Continuously improve and optimize current products through variation reduction.
  • Provide support for new product development and material changes by interacting with and being a member of Marketing and R&D teams.
  • Develop control strategies for sustaining all continuous improvement projects.
  • Initiate, manage, and participate in safety, quality, cost, and process improvement projects.
  • Provide ongoing process evaluation—including trials and capability studies.
  • Implement new equipment and operating procedures.
  • Mentor other process engineers and operations personnel.
  • Develop and implement technical training.
  • Scope and execute capital projects.
  • Participate, lead, and sponsor various task teams.
  • Assist in the development of long‑term strategies.

Qualifications – Essential

  • Experience with statistical analysis, statistical process controls (SPC), DOE, FMEA, and MSE.
  • Ability to develop, implement, monitor, measure, and control functional improvement plans.
  • Problem‑solving, decision analysis, situation appraisal skills.
  • Strong project‑management skills and ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities.

Qualifications – Preferred

  • Experience with controls, instrumentation, PLC knowledge.
  • Experience in a 24/7 environment.
  • Knowledge of PSM processes.
  • Previous experience with PSA/web‑based processes.
  • Web handling experience.

Education

BS degree in mechanical or chemical engineering from an accredited college or university, or an associate’s in mechanical or chemical engineering technology with 5+ years of industry experience.

Additional Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to influence relationships at multiple organizational levels.
  • Approachable, effective at giving/receiving feedback.
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Strong PC skills – MS Office/Google platforms, Lotus Notes, MINITAB, AutoCAD, Inventor/Solid Works; experience with QSI and QIS a plus.
  • Previous ISO 9001‑2000 implementation, improvement, and sustainment experience.
  • Previous Six Sigma exposure/experience;
    Green Belt/Black Belt certification a plus.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in operations, engineering, or a related field, including co‑op and internship experience.
  • Flexibility on work hours (on‑call after hours/weekend as needed).

Salary Range

$82,175 – $100,300 per year (salary range may vary).

Location

Mentor, Ohio (on‑site).
