Physical Therapist
* PRN (Healthcare)

Job Responsibilities
  • Evaluate patients within twenty-four (24) hours or 1 business day of physician referral. Document delays clearly in the medical record if evaluation cannot be completed within this timeframe.
  • Develop effective treatment plans and obtain approval from the referring physician.
  • Treat patients according to the physician treatment plan.
  • Assist the nursing department with training Restorative Aides and supervise Physical Therapy Assistants in direct patient care, following state practice act guidelines.
  • Communicate patient progress, problems, and plans with supervisors and other health team members.
  • Participate in Patient Care Conferences, Utilization Review meetings, and Rehabilitation Conferences as needed.
  • Conduct in-service training programs for facility staff.
  • Record evaluations, daily treatment notes, weekly progress notes, and recertification documentation as per PT Board State Practice Act and payer requirements.
  • Instruct patients’ families or nursing staff in maintenance programs and caregiver training for discharge preparation.
  • Participate in discharge planning and recommend necessary durable medical equipment to facilitate patient independence.
  • Report departmental equipment issues for maintenance.
  • Maintain positive and effective relationships with patients, families, staff, and colleagues.
  • Supervisory Requirements

    Supervise PT assistants, aides, and students.

    Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy;
    Master’s or Doctorate preferred.
  • Proficient in computer skills, including Casamba and Point Click Care.
  • Ability to read technical procedures and policy manuals.
  • Effective communication skills with managers, coworkers, and families.
  • Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to interpret various instructions.
  • Licensed as a Physical Therapist in the state; must meet continuing education requirements and maintain licensure in good standing.
  • Physical Demands & Work Environment

    Position requires frequent standing, walking, reaching, talking, and hearing. Occasionally sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Must be able to exert significant force and have good visual perception. Work environment is typically low to moderate noise level.
