Assistant Area Foreman at Merritt
To support the Production Plant Manager in managing a manufacturing package or work order from manufacturing receipt through delivery. This is a working lead direct labor position. Requires little or no supervision to delegate and execute assigned work to 3 – 5 subordinates from start to completion of work orders.
Role and Responsibilities- Provide leadership and technical guidance efficiently, maintaining all quality standards
- Work closely with Assembly Supervisor for MP handoff and final approval to process daily workload
- Provide leadership and direction in order to provide a safe operation at all times
- Develop comprehensive tactical plan including resource allocation to ensure work orders are completed within allotted hours
- Deploy appropriate skill to task utilizing resources effectively
- Effective execution utilizing production systems and processes
- Proficiently use Merritt work order report system
- Execute plan incorporating all aspects of MP package within estimated run time, allotted hours and required quality standards
- Develop or assign task of developing pattern and layouts for specific projects
- Work as integral part of assembly line on major casework runs. May be required to participate in the following:
- Help in the addition of base, trim, crown molding, and other items to various architectural component units
- Use of the following: assembly machinery, case and frame clamps, table saw, chop saw and band saw
- Manual dowel insertion for unusual items
- Hinge boring and insertion
- Process laminated tops, panels and components
- Spray contact cement
- Apply pre-sprayed components
- Routines, file and clean laminated products for completion of project
- Other duties as assigned
- 5 years of woodworking industry experience is required
- Must be able to read complex architectural drawings
- Must be able to work effectively with woodworking engineers, draftspersons, and shop personnel
- General computer knowledge is preferred
Position will require moderate lifting, not greater than 40 lbs. Will also require moderate reaching, pushing, pulling, gripping and grasping. Fine manipulation or fine manual dexterity required. Ability to stand for a full shift in addition to walking, climbing stairs and bending as required. Must be able to use phone and communicate using speech, hearing and vision skills.
