Overview

MSA is seeking a Project Engineer with expertise in HVAC design to join our growing Mechanical Engineering team. This individual will be responsible for developing and managing HVAC system designs for K–12 schools, churches, municipal facilities, and commercial buildings
. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to impactful community projects while collaborating closely with architects, engineers, and project managers. PE or DES licensure is required.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and engineering of HVAC systems for new construction and renovation projects across educational, religious, municipal, and commercial sectors.
  • Perform load calculations, equipment selections, ductwork and piping layouts, and energy efficiency evaluations.
  • Prepare detailed construction documents, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including structural, electrical, plumbing, and architectural professionals.
  • Review submittals, respond to RFIs, and provide technical support during construction.
  • Ensure compliance with local building codes, ASHRAE standards, and project-specific sustainability goals.
  • Participate in client meetings, present design solutions, and support business development initiatives when needed.
Qualifications

WHAT YOU BRING

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree or related Engineering field experience

Experience

  • Four years of relevant mechanical engineering experience

Required knowledge and skills

  • Knowledge of the philosophies, principals, practices, and techniques of engineering
  • Proficiency with digital tools, which may include Microsoft Office, BIM, and/or CADD
  • Strong interpersonal skills for facilitating relationships with colleagues
  • Creative problem-solving skills to solve new and challenging problems
  • Ability to mentor less experienced staff
  • The selected candidate must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. without requiring visa sponsorship now or in the future. We are unable to provide or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this role.

License

  • PE license in WI preferred OR Designer of Engineering Systems (DES) License

Salary information:
The salary for this position ranges from $79,081 to $126,529 per year commensurate with experience. Higher compensation within this range will be paid to candidates with significant experience and exceptional qualifications.
