Certification Details
- Responsible for performing Transthoracic echocardiograms, assisting with Transesophageal Echocardiograms, and performing exercise and Dobutamine Stress Echocardiograms under direction.
- Demonstrates increasing competency in delivery of care to a primarily adult population.
- Performs routine and emergency echocardiograms including 2D, 3D, Doppler, and Transesophageal echocardiograms as requested by physician.
- Operates equipment to obtain optimal images and performs minor maintenance and cleaning.
- Prepares preliminary reports for Cardiologist review including comparison of previous studies.
- Participates in quality improvement activities and maintains appropriate logs and records.
- Prepares and instructs patients pre- and post-procedure.
- Utilizes ultrasound contrast according to ASE guidelines and department policy.
Job Details
- One to three years’ experience as a cardiac sonographer is required.
- Completion of a two-year Allied Health degree or equivalent education in Ultrasound Technology or Cardiovascular Technology.
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or equivalent is required.
- American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) certification in cardiac ultrasound is required.
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) from ARDMS or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) from CCI required within 12 months of start.
Job Requirements
- Works variable shifts including weekends.
- Provides emergent call coverage as scheduled.
Schedule Information
- Preferred previous healthcare-related training such as CNA, EMT, PCA, or other is preferred.
