The Dental Assistant (DA) Float provides assistance to the dentist, and dental department in various aspects of patient care. The DA Float is required to travel on a regular basis to all GVHC sites.
This position will support all 12 Dental Clinics in Merced, Stanislaus, and San Joaquin Counties.
Schedule is Monday - Friday, working from 7:45am - 4:45pm.
This is a full-time position.
Compensation: $21.95 - $23.05 per hour, plus daily $18.00 bonus for working scheduled days

- Demonstrates effective communication and problem-solving skills.
- Pass and receive instruments.
- Mix cements, amalgam and impression materials.
- Oral evacuation and retraction.
- Seat, prepare, and dismiss patients.
- Receive/place telephone calls.

- Chart patient’s health care information
- Take patient’s blood pressure and oral temperature.
- Develop and trim diagnostic casts.
- Pour and trim diagnostic casts.
- Take radiographs.
- Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Knowledge:
Dental terminology and dental office procedures. General knowledge of office procedures.
Skills:
General computer skills. Ability:
Independently perform dental procedures. Document patient information in the electronic medical record. Take and pass dental assistant educational courses as required by the state of California. Accommodate changes in daily and hourly schedules; travel to all sites is required, including during the workday.
Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds and push up to 75 pounds (on wheels). Must be able to hear on the phone and in-person. Speak clearly in order to communicate information to clients and staff. Must have vision with or without lenses adequate to read a computer screen, forms and clinical and administrative documents. Must have high manual dexterity.
Must be able to reach above the shoulder level to work, must be able to bend, squat and sit, stand, stoop, crouching, reaching, kneeling, twisting/turning, fingering and feeling.
Noise level in the work environment is moderate.
Education/Experience Requirements- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current CPR certification – American Heart Association, Basic Life Support.
- One (1) year of dental assistant experience preferred.
Acceptable driving record, a valid CDL and liability vehicle insurance required.
