Transfer Project Advisor or Project Coordinator (Onsite)
Join the University of California, Merced to support and coordinate academic preparation programming for K‑12 students. This is a fully on‑site, one‑year contract position with full UC benefits.
Hiring RangeProject Advisor: $24.31–$32.00 per hour
Project Coordinator: $55,200–$68,000 per year

About the JobUnder the direction of a K‑12 Academic Preparation Specialist IV, the incumbent works with assigned institutions and organizations to implement academic preparation programing of moderate scope. The role maintains program visibility, builds collaborative relationships with K‑12 schools, and coordinates college‑going services.
Key Responsibilities- Recruit and enroll 6th–12th‑grade students for program participation, providing academic development and support aligned with program objectives.
- Prepare monthly activity summaries, maintain timely data entry for logs, surveys, evaluations, and grades, and produce reports at supervisor request.
- Develop and implement college‑going services, organize campus visits, workshops, and parent activities; deliver admissions, personal statement, financial aid, and test‑taking workshops; support enrichment programs.
- Maintain relationships with higher education institutions and community entities; identify and advocate for educationally disadvantaged students.
- Coordinate academies that provide in‑depth educational support, manage program budget, maintain accurate records, and stay current on education trends and best practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related area from an accredited institution. (Required)
- One year of progressively responsible related experience and/or a blend of experience and training. (Required)
- Bachelor’s degree in a related area from an accredited institution. (Required)
- Advanced degree in a related area may substitute for two years of required experience. (Preferred)
- Two years of progressively responsible related experience and/or a blend of experience and training. (Required)
- Experience working with a diverse student population and sensitivity to culture, race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, and socio‑economic status.
- Knowledge and understanding of K‑14 education.
- Knowledge of higher education institutions (UC, CSU, CC, etc.), admissions, and financial aid requirements.
- Experience advising and supporting educationally disadvantaged and at‑risk students on postsecondary opportunities.
- Ability to maintain cooperative relationships with school district administrators, counselors, principals, teachers, and community contacts.
- Thorough knowledge of high school graduation and college entrance requirements.
- Spanish speaking preferred.
- Able to travel and work evenings and weekends as needed.
- Must maintain a valid CA driver’s license and a clean Department Motor Vehicle record.
