Part‑time instructional assignment in the Noncredit Department under the general direction of the Dean of Adult Education and Noncredit. The professor may teach a variety of English courses with a maximum load of 10 units per semester, which may include evening and weekend hours.

• Provide instruction in accordance with established course outlines and expectations
• Inform students about course requirements, evaluation procedures, and attendance policy
• Maintain required student attendance and scholastic records
• Prepare and grade class assignments and examinations
• Post and maintain regular office hours in accordance with prevailing policy
• Participate in the development and review of curriculum
• Develop teaching‑learning methods and materials
• Contribute to departmental, area and campus professional activities/committees
• Participate in the college’s learning outcomes assessment program, including course, program, and institutional assessments
• Perform tasks needed for student records, e.g., submit grades on time to admissions and records

• A(Bachelor’s degree) in teaching English as a second language, or teaching English to speakers of other languages
• A(Bachelor’s degree) in education, English, linguistics, applied linguistics, any foreign language, composition, bilingual bicultural studies, reading, or speech with a Certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language (completed concurrently during the first year of employment)
• A(Bachelor’s degree) with any of the majors above, one year of experience teaching ESL in an accredited institution, and a Certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language (completed concurrently during the first two years of employment)
• Possession of a full‑time, clear California Designated Subjects Adult Education Teaching Credential authorizing instruction in ESL
• Demonstrated ability to promote and incorporate culturally affirming DEIA and anti‑racist principles, creating a respectful, inclusive, and equitable learning environment

• Teaching experience in the field
• Current technology skills related to teaching in the discipline and a willingness to pursue future technological developments
