General DescriptionPart‑time instructional assignment in the Noncredit Department under the general direction of the Dean of Adult Education and Noncredit. The professor may teach a variety of English courses with a maximum load of 10 units per semester, which may include evening and weekend hours.
Responsibilities- Provide instruction in accordance with established course outlines and expectations
- Inform students about course requirements, evaluation procedures, and attendance policy
- Maintain required student attendance and scholastic records
- Prepare and grade class assignments and examinations
- Post and maintain regular office hours in accordance with prevailing policy
- Participate in the development and review of curriculum
- Develop teaching‑learning methods and materials
- Contribute to departmental, area and campus professional activities/committees
- Participate in the college’s learning outcomes assessment program, including course, program, and institutional assessments
- Perform tasks needed for student records, e.g., submit grades on time to admissions and records
- A(Bachelor’s degree) in teaching English as a second language, or teaching English to speakers of other languages
- A(Bachelor’s degree) in education, English, linguistics, applied linguistics, any foreign language, composition, bilingual bicultural studies, reading, or speech with a Certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language (completed concurrently during the first year of employment)
- A(Bachelor’s degree) with any of the majors above, one year of experience teaching ESL in an accredited institution, and a Certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language (completed concurrently during the first two years of employment)
- Possession of a full‑time, clear California Designated Subjects Adult Education Teaching Credential authorizing instruction in ESL
- Demonstrated ability to promote and incorporate culturally affirming DEIA and anti‑racist principles, creating a respectful, inclusive, and equitable learning environment
- Teaching experience in the field
- Current technology skills related to teaching in the discipline and a willingness to pursue future technological developments
- Letter of interest addressing your qualifications for the position (cover letter)

- Legible unofficial college transcripts (undergraduate and graduate)
- Diversity Statement (one‑page, no personally identifying information)
- Foreign transcripts with U.S. evaluation and translation (if applicable)
