About the JobThis highly analytical position utilizes advanced forecasting methodologies and analytical skills to aid leadership in developing financial resource plans, managing budgets, and allocating resources. The role requires advanced professional concepts and organizational objectives to resolve complex issues creatively. The incumbent serves as a subject matter expert in budgeting, staffing, and allocation of diverse funds.
Key Responsibilities- Financial planning and budget management: perform complex technical analysis to understand past performance, determine present and future performance, and allocate resources. Oversee all activities related to creating, maintaining, and reporting on operational and budget processes.
- Manage and implement department budget allocations, maintain department chart of accounts and related business processes. Prepare, review, and approve financial transactions.
- Provide analytical support for complex budget, financial, and resource projects for department and campus leadership and external constituents. Prepare financial reports, staff salary budgets, and other allocations.
- Coordinate the gathering of budgetary and resource requirements during planning stages, such as the annual budget and fiscal close. Use spreadsheet and database tools to gather information for financial analysis and reporting.
- Gather, analyze, prepare, summarize, and present recommendations for complex financial and resource plans, including forecasts, operating forecasts, and resource allocation approaches.
- Perform other duties to support campus as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related area.
- Minimum 5–8 years of progressively responsible experience in financial analysis, budgeting, and reporting, or 9 years of equivalent experience.
- Related professional certification (preferred).
- Advanced knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems.
- Ability to identify, collect, and analyze information from multiple sources.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, budget development, and financial management in a complex environment.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills, with ability to present complex financial information to non‑financial stakeholders.
- In‑depth proficiency with spreadsheets and database tools for financial analysis and reporting.
- Advanced interpersonal skills, service orientation, critical thinking, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate across departments.
- Knowledge of internal control practices and their impact on protecting university resources.
- Knowledge of academic affairs policies, practices, and systems.
