Registered Nurse – Labor & Delivery

Merced, CA | Acute Care

Contract | Days | 12-Hour Shifts (7:00 AM start) | Onsite

• Provide direct patient care on an active Labor & Delivery unit averaging 200–240 births per month, including antepartum patients (e.g., magnesium sulfate management)
• Circulate C-sections and support a diverse patient population, including a high Hispanic population; bilingual skills are a plus
• Maintain AWHONN-guided staffing ratios; apply a 1:2 ratio for patients on magnesium sulfate
• Utilize evidence-based algorithms in collaboration with the perinatal safety officer; adhere to baby-friendly and golden hour protocols
• Perform bedside report and documentation, conduct hourly rounds, and support baby care including bathing in postpartum as needed
• Float to Postpartum as needed; mentor and educate newer nursing staff

• Active RN license valid in California
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required
• AWHONN Intermediate Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification required
• Strong IV insertion skills required
• Must complete a 3-shift unit-specific orientation upon start
• Must be available for three weekend shifts within every four-week scheduling period
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible

• Experience with baby-friendly hospital initiatives and golden hour practices
• Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred given the diverse patient population served
• Familiarity with Cerner EMR, Fetal Link, and McRoberts MyChild infant documentation systems
• Experience in a high-volume L&D setting with the ability to mentor and support newer nursing staff

• Work alongside a well-supported team including OB hospitalists in house, Respiratory Therapy, and Pharmacy available 24/7, and on-site OB techs each shift
