The duties and responsibilities of the Operations Manager will include but are not limited to the following:
- Shuttle operations
- Oversee daily shuttle operations, ensuring timely, safe, and efficient transportation for passengers.
- Support the team in managing shuttle operations, ensuring optimal utilization and customer satisfaction.
- Personnel management
- Manage hourly staff including supervisors, dispatchers, shuttle drivers, and maintenance staff.
- Foster teamwork, motivate employees, and implement corrective actions to enforce policies and procedures.
- Assist in hiring, training, and evaluating shuttle employees, ensuring adherence to LAZ standards.
- Promote “The LAZ Way” (motto, values, and practices).
- Scheduling and resource allocation
- Create and monitor daily schedules for shuttle services, including work assignments and meal breaks.
- Ensure adequate staffing levels to meet service standards, adjusting the schedule as needed.
- Review and approve time‑off requests and monitor adherence to operational and personnel policies.
- Fleet and facility management
- Manage fleet maintenance and cleaning schedules, ensuring vehicles are operational and safe.
- Perform routine inventory of supplies and equipment, ensuring staff have the necessary tools for their roles.
- Conduct monthly facility and vehicle safety inspections, addressing any deficiencies promptly.
- Safety and compliance
- Ensure all employees adhere to safety standards, promoting workplace safety and compliance with DOT and ADA regulations.
- Oversee monthly driver evaluations conducted by the Safety Manager and support safety initiatives.
- Customer service and operational excellence
- Maintain high levels of customer service, ensuring all shuttle and parking services meet or exceed expectations.
- Process daily reports on passenger counts, headways, and other operational metrics.
- Address customer inquiries and resolve complaints in a professional and efficient manner.
- Leadership and team development
- Set individualized employee goals and track their progress.
- Support LAZ U training and employee development initiatives in collaboration with HR and the HRBP.
- Other duties
- Participate in internal meetings as needed and perform additional tasks as assigned by the PM, DOO, and GM.
- Valid Class A or B license with air brake and passenger endorsements
- Three years of experience in commercial transportation or paratransit operations
- Two years of management experience in the parking or transportation industry
- Pre‑employment background check and drug screening
- Clean DMV MVR
- Familiarity with DOT rules and regulations
- Familiarity with ADA rules and regulations
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience managing a team of 20+ employees
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Familiarity with telematics systems, including cameras and GPS devices
- Ability to problem‑solve in challenging situations, such as malfunctioning technology, staffing shortages, or unplanned operational changes
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and complex situations
- Excellent team‑building and leadership skills
- Ability to train, coach, and develop frontline employees
- Ability to work independently, multi‑task, and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
- Ability to push/pull/lift up to 50 lbs.
