Job Overview

Provide legal guidance to the Company, including business colleagues and the leadership team, on a variety of issues: consumer and commercial direct and indirect financing and regulatory compliance; commercial transactions; collections and customer service; privacy and data security matters; corporate governance and licensing; litigation; contract management, insurance; marketing; and oversee legally compliant project implementation.

Responsibilities
  • Legal Analysis and Advice
    • Adviseporque los clients on legal and regulatory topics including consumer and commercial financing, privacy, data security, commercial transaction matters, corporate governance, licensing, litigation, collections, contract management, insurance, marketing and product development. Manage outside counsel and other advisors as needed. (25%)
  • Legal Documents

    • Draft, review and modify legal documents such as contracts, regulatory and compliance forms, incorporating regulatory requirements and conducting legal research. (15%)
  • Consumer Complaints
    • Assist the business line with responses to customer complaints and threatened litigation matters and defensive litigation management. (15%)
  • Regulatory Authorities
    • Assist with federal and state examination issues and formulate responses to licensing departments and other regulatory inquiries. (5%)
  • Proactive Risk Mitigation
    • Conduct risk assessment, troubleshooting based on customer complaints, audit reports and litigation. Perform root cause analysis and recommend risk mitigation tailored to the Company’s processes. (20%)
  • Collaborate with Executive Leadership
    • Advise executive management of legal risks, communicate options and collaborate for mitigation. (20%)
Qualifications

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. at the time of application. Relocation assistance will not be provided.

  • Education
    • Undergraduate Degree
    • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school
  • Experience

    Experience in private practice or with a financial services provider; 4‑6 years of consumer finance and regulatory work, with emphasis on motor vehicle financing and leasing preferred.
