Job Title:

Household Manager / Family Assistant

Location:

Mercer Island, WA (onsite)

Compensation and Benefits

$100,000 – $135,000 (DOE) + overtime + healthcare stipend / insurance contribution.

All hours worked are paid. Hours over 40 in the workweek are paid at 1.5×.

When weekend travel support is scheduled (up to 10 days per year), weekday hours may be adjusted within the same workweek to manage total hours. Any weekend travel day support with more than 2 hours worked earns one paid recovery day to be taken within 60 days.

PTO: 15 paid vacation days, Washington paid sick leave (accrued per state law), 8 paid federal holidays.

Mission

To serve as the operational anchor for the family, ensuring seamless daily execution and proactively managing the household infrastructure. You will “own the noise” – handling logistics, staff management, and administrative details – enabling the Principals to focus entirely on their professional demands and family time.

Core Responsibilities
  • Household Operations & Vendor Management: Oversee the physical maintenance of the home (preventive schedules, repairs, inventory). Serve as the primary point of contact for all vendors, contractors, and service providers, ensuring work is completed to a high standard without family intervention.
  • Staff Leadership & HR: Direct daily operations of the household team (nannies, housekeepers, private chef, personal trainers). Handle scheduling, payroll, recruiting, and performance management to ensure reliable coverage and high operational standards.
  • Principal Support & Logistics: Partner directly with the Principal’s Executive Assistant to de‑conflict professional and personal calendars. Execute precise daily routines, including nutrition tracking (macro/calorie counting), supplement management, and personal appointments.
  • Family Logistics & Chauffeur Services: Serve as the primary driver for afternoon child activities (3:00 PM – 6:00 PM; vehicle provided). Manage the complex family calendar, including medical appointments, summer camp research/booking, and extracurricular schedules.
  • Travel Concierge (“Launch & Land”): Execute end‑to‑end travel logistics. This includes booking, packing, loading vehicles, and managing the return protocol (unpacking, grocery restocking, home reset) to ensure the family returns to a fully functional home. Travel support is typically limited to pre‑scheduled “Launch & Land” windows tied to each trip.
  • Project & Crisis Management: Act as the “Chaos Quarterback” for urgent issues (sick kids, staff no‑shows, household emergencies) and manage long‑term home improvement projects (renovations, landscaping upgrades) from quote to completion.
Qualifications
  • Experience: 3+ years in household management, personal assisting, or a high‑level family assistant role. Experience managing other staff or vendors highly preferred.
  • Tech‑Savvy: High proficiency with modern digital tools (G‑Suite, various household management apps). Must be comfortable using them.
  • Logistical Mindset: Proven ability to manage complex calendars and logistics. Plans routes to avoid traffic and anticipates gear needs before leaving the house.
  • Driving: A clean driving record and a valid driver’s license required.
  • Soft Skills: High emotional intelligence and the ability to “read the room.” Knows when to step in and fix a problem and when to fade into the background.
  • Privacy: Strict adherence to confidentiality and NDAs is a baseline requirement.
