Dentist – Meriden – Part Time

Located at Community Health Center of Meriden – Dental Facility, Meriden, Connecticut. Part‑time position with a schedule of 8 hours per week, including evening and weekend hours as needed.

General Responsibilities
  • Provides diagnosis and treatment planning for routine and emergency dental patients.
  • Provides general dentistry services to target population according to the mission and goals of CHC.
  • Assists with orientation, training & development of dental clinical personnel (students, residents).
  • Provides appropriate diagnosis and treatment planning of routine and emergency dental problems; makes referrals as required.
  • Provides routine comprehensive and emergency dental treatment with emphasis on preventive care; meets quarterly productivity targets (two patients per hour).
  • Maintains accurate documentation of all dental services; completes laboratory prescriptions timely.
  • Ensures strict compliance with safety and infection control standards; ensures continuous maintenance of the dental facility and equipment.
  • Provides diagnosis, treatment and referral for dental emergencies after hours via on‑call service; responds promptly to calls and documents results.
  • Maintains open communication with Dental Director, Site Director, Practice Manager and other staff; participates in clinical staff training, evaluation and quality assurance program.
  • Participates in continuing education activities to improve clinical dental skills.
  • Exhibits excellent communication and customer service skills to internal and external customers; focuses on quality of care and teamwork.
  • Maintains compliance with agency annual Training/Education requirements per Policies & Procedures manual.
Required Qualifications
  • Education – DDS or DMD degree from an accredited dental school.
  • Residency – (preferred) GPR or AEGD certification OR 1‑2 years general dental clinical experience.
  • Licensure – State of Connecticut dental license; NERB or Regional Dental Boards; DEA (Federal and State) active licensure.
  • Interest in serving a diverse patient population.
  • Written and oral bilingual fluency in the language spoken by our patient population (e.g., English/Spanish or English/Polish) strongly preferred.
  • Current American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer and AED (CPR/FPR/AED) certification; alternatively, current American Heart Association BLS/AED for Healthcare Providers certification.
Physical Effort/Environment

Requires good to excellent manual dexterity, fine motor coordination, good vision, physical mobility and flexibility. Light lifting required. Potential exposure to blood‑borne pathogens. Must follow OSHA standards and universal precautions.

Work Schedule Demands

8‑hour a week schedule with some evening and weekend hours as needed. Additional time for record‑keeping and laboratory work. On‑call requires 24‑hour availability for 1‑2 weeks per month.

Communication Skills

Excellent verbal communication with patients and staff; good listening skills; clear concise writing skills for dental record documentation.

Confidentiality of Information

Confidentiality of patient and business information is a requirement. Must maintain confidentiality according to CHC policies. Responsibilities include client data entry, access to medical system information, and confidential patient correspondence.
