Heavy Equipment Diesel Mechanic

LAUNCH Trans Techs is searching for a skilled Diesel Mechanic to work in Meriden, CT, focusing on diagnostics of electrical systems and starting and charging systems.

Pay: $30- $35 per hour, depending on experience

Shift: 1st shift, Monday to Friday, 7 am - 3:30 pm

Position: Heavy Equipment Diesel Mechanic - Meriden, CT

Requirements include a minimum of 5 years of experience, ability to perform scheduled services on drive trains, and working knowledge of electrical principles. Experience with electronic diagnostic and scan tools/computers is essential, and we provide the latest diagnostic laptops and tablets.

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Work independently, utilizing troubleshooting experience
  • Proficient use of diagnostic tools (manual and electronic)
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical principles
  • Perform scheduled services on various equipment including drive trains
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic diesel systems
  • Diagnose starting and charging systems
  • Maintain accurate work records
  • Knowledge of metal working (torch cutting and welding)
  • Develop technical skills and adhere to safety procedures
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • After training, provide mobile support as a mobile tech
Qualifications and

Education:
  • At least 5 years of experience with heavy equipment, diesel trucks, and tractors (e.g., Komatsu, Caterpillar, Case New Holland)
  • High School Diploma or Technical School preferred
  • Motivated to learn new skills
  • Valid Driver's License; willingness to obtain CDL within 6 months
Expectations and Goals:
  • Reliable attendance and transportation
  • Own basic tools and proficiency in their use
  • Steel toe boots required
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
Equipment and Vehicles Serviced:
  • Dump trucks
  • Heavy equipment (e.g., Case, New Holland, CAT, Hitachi, etc.)
  • Trailers
  • Box trucks (Isuzu, Mitsubishi, GMC, etc.)
  • Diesel/gas pickup trucks
  • Construction air compressors, skid steers, loaders, lift equipment
Additional Requirements:
  • Pass CRIM check, DMV/MVR check, and 10-panel NON-DOT drug test
