ESI’s Estimator has the responsibility to assist in coordinating, preparing, and presenting estimates for specific project proposal activities. This includes the ability to adapt to new innovations and apply skills to help create cost summaries, quantity takeoffs, and an understanding of project requirements. This position requires the applicant to be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the construction industry.
This position also requires experience in Mechanical or Wastewater project types.

- Aiding to produce an accurate estimate that includes subcontractor solicitation, quantity takeoffs, pricing analysis, proposal comparisons, and estimate summary sheets.
- Review, analyze, and interpret Contract Documents (RFP, specification, etc.)
- Completing full quantity take-off and data entry of labor, equipment, and materials.
- Conduct initial analysis of drawings and specifications to aid in establishing project requirements.
- Compile information from daily meetings/activities and communicate to the project team in a clear and organized manner.
- Supports lead estimators in gathering information from local government and private entities that may affect projects (i.e. permits, hearings, etc.)
- Perform archive filing and historical cost data gathering.
- Participate in project review meetings and site investigations as needed.
- Assist in coordination with the design team to provide constructability input and value engineering.
- Schedule estimating team reviews.
- Able to navigate and utilize bid solicitation software.
- Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Contributes to the team effort by exemplifying ESI’s Dependable, Dedicated, Dynamic estimating culture.
- Seeks training and mentorship in every task (humble and hungry)
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management and/or 1-4 years of industry/estimating experience.
- Demonstrates Leadership, integrity, perseverance, reliability, respect, and self-discipline.
- Competence in representing ESI as an ambassador to all parties in which we engage.
- Can effectively search, navigate, and interpret contract documents (plans, specifications, Geotech, RFI’s, ASI’s, CCD’s, etc.).
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite programs; specifically, Teams, Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Proficient and organized with Bluebeam PDFs (Takeoffs, markups, and modifications).
- Possesses organizational skills, is detail-oriented, and is able to manage and prioritize multiple tasks (Strong Time management skills).
- Competent in reading and understanding schedules.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with peers, upstream management, and vendors.
- Ability to comprehend, simplify, and convey information clearly and concisely.
- Ability to produce basic logistical plans with some direction.
- Skilled at problem-solving; resilient and determined to find or create solutions.
- Exhibits personal motivation, initiative, and potential for growth.
- Knowledge of construction fundamentals to assist in cost development.
