Youth Instructor; Martial Arts - Tomlinson South Meridian YMCA

The South Meridian Branch of the Treasure Valley YMCA is unlike any other in the country. Martial Arts Youth Instructor is responsible for creating a safe, friendly, and helpful atmosphere for members participating in youth enrichment classes.

This is a part time position averaging 1-5 hours weekly based on class schedule. Schedule requirements are evenings and days with times varied. Monday through Friday.
Pay: $21.53-$26.91 per class rate. Rate based on experience, class length and age group.

• Providing developmentally and/or age-appropriate instruction by establishing learning objectives and developing lesson plans and curriculum.
• Supervising lessons to ensure respectful interaction among participants.
• Conduct class in a quality, fun, and safe manner that results in increased attendance.
• Monitor class attendance for data tracking.
• Assist Director in ensuring needed supplies.
• Develop intentional relationships and maintain effective daily communication with members, participants and parents using the Y voice attributes.
• Work closely with the Director to ensure department operations are consistent with approved Leading Practices.
• Resolve member and child/parent concerns and issues. Follow appropriate incident response procedures.

• Must have good interpersonal and communications skills and be sensitive, adaptable, professional, and articulate when dealing with others.
• Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
• Meet all training requirements for your position in the specified timeframe.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.

• CPR/AED - Prerequisite upon hire – 14 day compliance period.
• First Aid Certification - Prerequisite upon hire – 14 day compliance period.
• YUSA Team Leader Certification recommended.
